Parasitological assessment of presumptive diagnosis and treatment of Malaria in some health facilities in Jos

According to World Health Organization estimates released in 2021, there were 241 million cases of malaria and 627,000 deaths worldwide 2020. Sub – Saharan Africa India carried almost 85% the global burden. Nigeria is among six countries which accounted for more than half all worldwide, mostly consisting pregnant women children under 5years. Nearly 110million clinical are diagnosed each year, contributes up 60% out patients’ visits 30% hospital admissions. This study sought establish accuracy with presumptively treated based on presentations only cost patient facilities. A prospective was between October, 2018 June 2019 using 356 participants who came health facilities access treatment suspected malaria. Demographics blood samples collected from eligible consented patients screened plasmodium parasite by microscopy. The results obtained showed 88% tested negative while 12% positive. anti-malarial ranged 500 1000 naira (using median score). Authors concluded that those actually needed such treatments. underscores need test before treatment.
